Arts to Aid Wellbeing

In April 2016 the 2 year 'Engage in Arts for Health and Wellbeing' programme that Story Moves has been delivering at Derby Royal City Hospital came to the end of this phase. 'The Imaginarium' was developed with support from the Engage team and Mark Hornsey, Parmjit Sagoo and Trina Haldaar and involved music, movement, story-making, story-telling, drama and relaxation. It was delivered on a variety of wards including Renal, Stroke Rehab and Elderly and people living with Dementia. Feedback was excellent and we look forward to the development of this project.

Cultural Residency Derby Theatre / Virtual School

Since 2014 Jen has been working as a Creative Mentor with the Derbyshire Virtual School, working with young people living in care. This work has progressed to drama work with one young person developing into a project at Derby Theatre. Last week saw the ideas formed over the last 18 months taking shape with Abigail Graham, director of Open Works Theatre Company, bringing the work into a script ready to rehearse and perform in the Autumn. What a great week it was and really well done to everyone involved.

More Carers Breaks sessions 2013

Following on from the success of our 5 sessions last year there will be 4 more sessions in 2013 -14

Story Moves offers a fun and creative way to relax, meet new people and let go of responsibilities for a few hours! Sessions are 3 hours long and open to everyone regardless of age or experience. There is no pressure to ‘perform’ in the workshops (although this may well happen!) the focus is on creative expression and fun!

You are welcome to come along to one or more of the workshops.

‘I hadn’t done anything like this before. It was great to be creative with no judgement’

'Thank you. I knew I needed to let go: emotionally and physically the tension melted away with each activity we did. I walked in. I shall float out.'
